INKSHED PUBLICATIONS has published books on Canadian writing studies topics (broadly understood to include any of the interest areas described below) for 25 years, including co-publishing Cross-Border Networks in Writing Studies with Parlor Press in 2017. This new series formalizes that publication initiative. We seek to publish books that connect the work of writing studies scholars in Canada with the global writing studies community. We also want to engage with scholars throughout the world who want to connect their work with that done in Canada.

Proposals for this series will describe how their manuscripts will promote the exchange of ideas and build knowledge through research studies, theory-based critiques, and pedagogically-grounded studies in these broad areas:

  • writing studies research and pedagogy
  • writing centre research and practice
  • rhetoric (theories of and specific practices)
  • critical literacy studies of all kinds
  • studies of texts and how they are composed, read, and used
  • studies of literature and response to literature
  • studies of multilingual writers working in English
  • and other, allied research fields

We wish to recognize that much of the work being carried out in Canada is not only part of the Canadian conversation, but is among the most innovative work being done in writing studies internationally as well.
